While tech company IPOS captured the buzz Lately, it looks like the boom (M) & (A) activities in the sector. According to a report by Ernst & Young & big deal forced the aggregated value of the global technology M & A $ 52.1 billion in the second quarter of 2011, nearly double the value of the transaction from the first quarter (up to 92 percent to be exact).
Ernst & Yang said that the increase was due mainly to the consolidation of the industry and introduced innovations in areas such as cloud computing, smart mobility, Internet and mobile video, smart grid and solar energy.
In General, the case volume for the quarter increased by 24% over year (YOY) 777 deals but declined 2% sequentially from 794 deals in the first quarter of 2011. This was the first sequential quarterly decline since the first quarter of 2009.
Value (M) & (A) this last quarter was 69%, higher than the same quarter in 2010 when the deal is estimated in & A M $ 30.8 billion. The average of the deals in Q2 values disclosed grew $ 194 million, which is the highest quarterly average since the first quarter of 2000, during the dot-com boom. The report also shows that while 61% of all significance was concentrated in the Top 10 deals, tech industry saw significant transaction making strength in transactions with less than 100 million dollars.
Microsoft-Skype was the largest transaction in the quarter, followed by Texas instrument $ 6.5 billion acquisition of National Semiconductor. The other was the deal for the quarter included applied materials 4.6 billion acquisition of Varian Semiconductor and Toshiba $ 2.3 billion buy Landis.
In particular, semiconductor (M) & A led 10.9 billion for the quarter and cloud computing and SaaS company continued to manage both large and small transactions. For example the link century bought Savvis for $ 2.3 billion in the quarter.
Outside their own countries more and more companies are also looking for acquisitions. Ernst & Young data show that "transboundary" case volume in 2Q 2011 was 16% higher, compared with 11% decrease in transactions at the border. The report suggests that the increasing globalization and the increasing amount of "Overseas" cash stocks of the American company can be an increase in the CB transaction solutions like the United States has acquired 56 per cent of the value of all CB acquired.
Some of the other big deals (M) & (A) in the second quarter include EA $ 1.3 billion acquisition of PopCap Games, Providence Equity 1.6 billion acquisition of the Board, Epicor and Activant in nearly $ 2 billion transactions and level 3 's $ 3 billion to acquire global crossing.
