We are big fans of online movie clips site Movieclips.com, which launched in 2009 as a search engine with more than 20 000 different clips from thousands of entries from libraries of 20th Century Fox, MGM, Paramount, Sony Pictures, Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures. Today the company announced that it raised $ 7 million in financing led by MK capital (founding investor in Machinima, the large game publisher at YouTube). Shasta ventures, first round capital, Richmond Park partners, Jeff Clavier, naval Ravikant, Jeff Kearl, Tom Mcinerney, Allen Debevoise ranked and Gordon Rubenstein also participated in the round. But it's not all. Movieclips Announces profitable new Vevo YouTube deal, bring all run licensed Hollywood HD video online video platform.

As you probably know, along with the Studio partnership (which is half the battle for licensing the content of the movie), Movieclips has also developed a patented technology that sets up to 1000 data points for each scene, which makes it super easy to find scenes of the movie title, actor, movie dialogue, mood, Director, genre, etc. these data allow people to search and discover movies through curated lists, and games. In the past year, launching a new product called Movieclips Mashups at TechCrunch Disrupt in New York, which allows anyone to make a composition of two minutes clips.

Co-founder of Zach James tells me (checkout, our TCTV interview with James News) that aim to conclude the transaction distribution can add clips on YouTube, with the blessing of the studios, which is known to be protective of their content of the film. Especially at public sites with tons of traffic, such as YouTube.  In the same way, Vevo was able to establish partnerships with record labels to music videos on YouTube Movieclips strives to put film and movie clips on the video platform.

But James said, surprisingly, most of the Studio were receptive to the idea of posting videos on YouTube. Co-founder Rich Raddon explains: "there are definitely open to studios that wasn't there before. Now that YouTube is looking for content partners premium, studios, which would have been laughed us out of the room a few years ago actually listen to. It's all about the right time. " Raddon said that Disney was the only major Studio that did not participate in the transaction Movieclips.

So now Movieclips will have a number of channels allocated (found here) on YouTube, with the breakdown of the types of film clips of actors, Director, genre, and much more. The clips will be able to examine everywhere where is YouTube. The company will also add interactive games, simple tasks, video mashups, trailers, and interactive video formats. The clips will be featured in other films on YouTube video on demand platform.

All videos will include some form of advertising, whether pre-roll or another format. While the Movieclips refused to give us the exact profit from the deal, we know, takes a portion of the proceeds, YouTube will take part and studios will take most of the income.

Camille Hearst, YouTube product marketing manager for music, movies and shows, said the case Movieclips, "there is a sea of content that you can add to your movie experience YouTube user with Movieclips.com ...We are glad to work with Movieclips.com to give the user exactly what they are looking for when they want to get into movies on YouTube ".

As a side note, James tells us that he initially floated the idea on stage till Google VP Marissa Mayer while the company is at the TechCrunch Disrupt in May 2010. Apparently listened to Mayer (and YouTube).

Given the success of Vevo YouTube deals this rather then a big deal for Movieclips. I hope run will generate large cash from the deal, but only the distribution platform is extremely profitable, in terms of views and to influence the brand. Vevo seeing nearly a billion page views per month and bring in tens of millions in revenue.

With regard to financing, James said that the new funds will be used to double down on YouTube. The company also is seeking to expand to include the Movieclips in mobile and social platforms including Facebook, Twitter and the iPad (site created a specialized video player and API developers can use to integrate the Movieclips on other sites; AOL Moviefone actually uses technology to its platform).

Created in December of 2009, MOVIECLIPS.com is an online video destination offering audiences the largest and most diverse set of scenes of the film. MOVIECLIPS.com allows fans to find, watch and share ...
